Fade’s ‘Thinking Of You’ is a poignant voyage into London’s underground

The latest BBC Introducing Dance show was one of my favourite shows yet! If you haven’t caught it yet, you can find it every Sunday night 00:30-01:00 on BBC Radio 1, or listen back on BBC Sounds. In this episode I pressed play on a standout track from North London producer and graphic designer, Lauren Chalmers, aka Fade.

When I first came across her tracks in the Uploader, I let out an audible gasp, and was soon rinsing the play button and dropping her tracks in as many of my DJ sets as possible, before giving Fade her Radio 1 debut in my first Introducing Dance show. After digging a bit deeper, I learnt that Fade is one half of Of Paradise, a label cemented in London’s underground scene, pushing jungle, breaks, house, techno and experimental electronics, and has recorded mixes for Feel My Bicep, Rinse and Hypnotic Groove.

‘Thinking Of You’ will be Fade’s first official release, and features in the label’s latest compilation, Of Paradise Vol. 3 , which is out in June and you can pre-order it here. It is an atmospheric journey; the listener has no choice but to follow it’s break-driven grooves and moody synths into the unknown. In a recent interview we did on Instagram Live, Fade described the track as ‘poignant- sounding’ and hopes that people will feel uplifted when listening to it.

If you like breaks and dark beats, then you’ll definitely be into this. Listen to ‘Thinking Of You’ below and watch our IG Live interview here.
