Lose yourself in Model Man’s live version of ‘Clarity’

Last weekend we made history with the BBC’s first ever virtual event. Pre-COVID-19, Radio 1’s Big Weekend was due to take place in Dundee during the May bank holiday, and off the back of having to cancel the physical event, we decided to host the festival online and on air!

Of course, the legendary BBC Music Introducing stage was ever-present - we hosted nearly 40 incredible performances from artists who recorded sessions from home, which I highly recommend you listen back to on BBC Sounds and watch on iPlayer.

Introducing in Essex put forward brother-fronted production outfit Model Man, who I’ve been a fan of for a while now! Mark from Model Man put together a stunning performance of ‘Clarity’ for Big Weekend, and I fell in love with the live piano playing layered over sunny synths and an optimistic and fitting vocal letting us all know that “soon it will be a brighter day”. The performance is gorgeous, and perfect to zone out to on a sunny evening with a glass of something (your choice).

In our interview on Instagram Live, Mark told me that they have ambitions to do more gigs with Model Man taking a full band stance, and hinted at more music being on its way.

I crowned Model Man’s ‘Clarity’ as my Dancefloor Moment on Introducing Dance on Sunday night. It feels like a message of hope, as the sun begins to shine, the warm skies get lighter and festival season begins.
